Rosario + Vampire (Japanese: ロザリオとバンパイア, Hepburn: Rozario to Banpaia) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akihisa Ikeda. The story revolves around Tsukune Aono , a boy who inadvertently enrolls in a boarding school for monsters.
[S1 ep 1 credits] Shizuka Nekonome (猫目 静, Nekonome Shizuka) is Tsukune and Moka's homeroom teacher, and the advisor of the Newspaper Club. In developing some of the teacher characters for the series, Ikeda said that he has great respect for real-life teachers, so he designed the monster ones to contrast that and be more comical. [3]
Rosario + Vampire began monthly serialization in the August 2004 issue of Monthly Shōnen Jump. The first tankōbon was released by Shueisha on October 4, 2004. [1] Each volume features a handful of four-panel bonus comic strips and author's notes. In the Volume 7 author's notes, Ikeda mentions that he was working with a new editor. [2]
Ikeda was born in Miyazaki in 1976. [1] His first work, Kiruto, debuted in 2002 [1] in Monthly Shōnen Jump. It is described as a "four-volume magical warrior fantasy series". [2] Rosario + Vampire debuted in Monthly Shōnen Jump in March 2004 [1] and continued in Jump Square (Jump SQ) as Rosario+Vampire: Season II until its conclusion in 2014. [2]
Like the first season, Rosario + Vampire: Season II is licensed in North America and the United Kingdom by Viz Media under their Shonen Jump Advanced imprint, and in Australia and New Zealand by Madman Entertainment. The first English volume was published on April 6, 2010, with a total of thirteen volumes available as of August 5, 2014.
