This school was created in 2006 by the merger of St. Barnabas Elementary School, St. Bartholomew Elementary School, and St. Pius X Elementary School. The school is one of the smallest in the Archdiocese of Louisville, with only around 300 students.

The first Mass held at St. Margaret Mary was celebrated in the new church on December 28, 1924. The church was dedicated by Bishop Patrick Barry on January 30, 1927. [3] St. Margaret Mary opened St. Margaret Mary School in the fall of 1954. [4] Bishop Joseph Patrick Hurley, [5] of St. Augustine dedicated the school in 1960. [6]

The school returned to Milton Mount in September 1945 at the end of World War II. It was closed in 1951, after which a number of new St Mary's Children's homes and buildings were erected on Parrock Road and Glen View. After remaining empty for a period, in 1972 the original building was demolished and the site was then developed for housing.
