Purolator Inc. is a Canadian courier majority owned by Canada Post. It was founded as Trans Canada Couriers, Ltd and acquired in 1967 by Purolator, a US manufacturer of oil and air filters. [3] In 1987, the company returned to Canadian ownership.

Canada Post use 13 digit alphanumeric tracking numbers / barcodes for their pre-printed labels. Canada Post provides a free postal code look-up tool on its website, [1] via its mobile apps for such smartphones as the iPhone and BlackBerry, [2] and sells hard-copy directories and CD-ROMs. Many vendors also sell validation tools, which allow customers to properly match addresses and postal codes.
The first position also does not make use of the letters W or Z. This means the maximum number of FSAs available is 18×10×20 = 3,600. With 10×20×10 = 2,000 possible LDUs in each FSA, there is a theoretical limit of 7.2 million postal codes.
