In August 1998, General Motors released the GMT800 generation of full-size pickups for the 1999 model year as the replacement for the fourth-generation C/K trucks introduced for 1988. Built on the new GMT800 platform, the Silverado/Sierra 1500 and 2500 pickup trucks were first released in August 1998 as 1999 models.
Available in either two- or four-wheel drive, and exclusively in a Crew Cab configuration, the Silverado/Sierra 1500 Hybrid is powered by a 6.0-liter V8.
