    My surgeon told me primary purpose of boot and downward toe position was to protect Achilles repair early on. I only took boot off to shower; crutches into shower were dangerous in my opinion. You will see others here that reinjured falling or slipping. My opinion, based on this, is swimming would be risky to repair.

    In basic terms the point where the achilles tendon inserted to the heel bone was significantly calcified and the tendon was damaged but not ruptured. The surgeon had to cut away the excess bone and repair the damaged area of the tendon. Post surgery for 3 weeks no weight bearing.

    I am 7 weeks post op. i had Ankle fusion and Achilles release. I also have zero feeling in my foot. My surgeon seemed confused as to that fact and said we will review it again in 4 weeks. My foot is so swollen. I spent at least 12 hours on ice yesterday and took anti inflamatories and it makes no difference. Nothing makes any difference.
