It is called Swan Lake because it is shaped like a swan. From the 1920s until the late 1970s there was a resort at Swan Lake on the south side of the lake. It included a pavilion that sold food and it had a band stand, dance floor and roller skating rink on the same floor. Cabins were rented out and bands performed at the pavilion.
The lake is similar to Moyie Lake in southern British Columbia. It is a narrow, small, and twisty lake that is hard to navigate. There is a small divide that separates the Swan River Valley from the Clearwater River Valley. The Clearwater River flows south through a series of lakes, including Seeley Lake and empties into the Blackfoot River.

Swan Lake Kispiox River Provincial Park is a provincial park in northwest British Columbia, Canada. It lies within the territories of the Gitanyow and Gitxsan First Nations. The park and the area surrounding it are important to First Nations people for cultural activities. There are trumpeter swans known to be on Club Creek in the winter. [2]
