Owen County is a county located in the northern part of the U.S. state of Kentucky.Its county seat is Owenton. [1] The county is named for Colonel Abraham Owen. [2] It is a prohibition or dry county, with the exception of a winery that is authorized to sell its product to the public, [3] and limited sales within the incorporated city limits of Owenton.
The Owen County Courthouse and Jail in Owenton, Kentucky was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. [1] The complex of two buildings also contributes to the National Register-listed Central Owenton Historic District .
