Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering (KMSME) located in Cochin, Kerala, India, is the first marine engineering college in the state of Kerala. The CUSAT stampede was a fatal incident that occurred on 25 November 2023, at the CUSAT in Kochi, Kerala. Four students died and 64 others were injured when a crowd of people tried to enter an open-air auditorium where a concert by singer Nikhita Gandhi was about to begin, as part of the university’s annual tech festival ‘Dhishna’.
Admissions are based on an All India Entrance Examination known as Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the University which includes papers for admission to undergraduate courses. The College has got students from all over the country.
The pattern, number of questions and duration have seen considerable variations over the years. On 1 May 2009, it was announced that CAT would be a Computer Based Test starting from 2009. The American firm Prometric was entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the test from 2009 to 2013. [ 4 ]

The CUSat project began in 2005 and was the winner of the University Nanosat-4 Program which aims to educate the future aerospace workforce and develop new space technologies. As part of this program, CUSat completed environmental testing and other aspects of final I&T in the AFRL Aerospace Engineering Facility at Kirtland Air Force Base .
