Students use a coding software called VEXcode IQ to program the robot. It can be programmed with block-based coding or Python. There are two parts to the contests: Robot Skills, which is a single robot trying to score as many points as possible, and the Teamwork Challenge, where two robots attempt to work together to complete the same task. [36]
To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used: {{The Complete Robot | state = collapsed}} will show the template collapsed, i.e. hidden apart from its title bar. {{The Complete Robot | state = expanded}} will show the template expanded, i.e. fully visible.
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is an international high school robotics competition. Each year, teams of high school students, coaches, and mentors work during a six-week period to build robots capable of competing in that year's game that weigh up to 115 pounds (52 kg). [4]
In the Finals, three teams had a perfect score of 8. The tie was broken by their total time. First place went to Team KAIST with their DRC-Hubo robot and a winning time of 44 minutes and 28 seconds. Second place went to IHMC for Running Man, and third to Tartan Rescue of CMU NREC for Chimp. [25] [26] [27] The robots performed better than expected.

Teams start with up to 2 or 3 discs on the robot at the beginning of the match. Robots which begin touching the carpet behind their colored Auto Line may have three discs; others may have only two. They can score these in autonomous or wait for the teleoperated period. Only the 6 discs of an alliance's color count when scored on top of its pyramid.
The first challenge was The Speedway. Robots raced in opposite directions around a figure-8 track. Each lap was worth 10 points and the robot which was ahead at the end of a two-minute time limit would earn 20 bonus points (it was also stated that the first robot to complete 8 laps would get the bonus points, but this never happened).
{{Robotics | state = expanded}} will show the template expanded, i.e. fully visible. {{Robotics | state = autocollapse}} will show the template autocollapsed, i.e. if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar, or table with the collapsible attribute), it is hidden apart from its title bar, but if not, it is fully visible.
