The Globe Downtown Historic District encompasses a group of commercial, religious, and governmental buildings related to the status of Globe as the economic and governmental center of Gila County. Globe was designated as the County Seat of Gila County and grew into the primary economic and commercial center of the Globe mining region.
The act became the official law governing the district. The townsite of 'Globe City' was officially laid out in July 1876. Globe became the seat of Gila County, a new Arizona county, in February 1881. [1] [2] [3] The price of silver had decreased by 1881, however by the same token the price of copper increased.

From 1904 to 1908, Phelps-Dodge spent $2.5 million on expanding and modernizing the mine and plant. As the mine grew, so did Globe. World War 1 brought increased copper demand; the mine and town both prospered. 1917 was a year of labor unrest in the copper mines nationwide. A strike on the Globe mines was called on July 1, 1917.

There are countless versions of this logo on GLOBE partner organisation websites. The design of the logo started with the launch of the project in 1995 with a color theme. There are countless variations of this logo on GLOBE partner websites in color and grey scale. An animated version of the logo is used with GLOBE videos.
