The 35th European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships were held from 2–5 May 2024 in Rimini, Italy. [1] [2] The competition served as Olympic qualification for one individual berth, [3] which was won by Belgium's Maellyse Brassart. [4]
The competition was first held in 1997 under the name European Gymnastics Masters in Paris, France. A second edition of the tournament, still as European Gymnastics Masters, was held in 1999 in Patras, Greece. [1] [2] In 2001 the competition was renamed to European Team Gymnastics Championships. It was last held in 2003.
The European Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics Individual Championships [1] are an artistic gymnastics championships for male and female gymnasts from European countries organised by the European Union of Gymnastics. They were first held in 2005 and have been held biennially since then in odd-numbered years.
The review received in excess of 400 submissions of evidence and cost £3 million. [2] 190 interviews were conducted for the report and 133 former and current gymnasts were interviewed. It was published in June 2022. [1] The review detailed 'systemic' accounts of both physical and emotional abuse of young athletes.
