The town began to disappear from maps in the 1970s, one of the last maps showing the town as a whole was the 1960 Census Tract Map of Franklin County. [6] The town had disappeared from maps for the most part by 1974, with Winton Road and Mobile Drive as exceptions. [ 7 ]

Of the sites on the National Register in Columbus, 54 are also on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties, the city's list of local landmarks. The cemetery was the only burial ground in Columbus through the 1810s and 1820s; the 1799-established Old Franklinton Cemetery was annexed into Columbus along with the rest of Franklinton in 1859. At one time called "the Grave Yard of the City of Columbus", a new graveyard opened on present-day Livingston Avenue in 1841.
