New York State Route 73 (NY 73) is a 27.55-mile-long (44.34 km) state highway located entirely within Essex County, New York, in the United States.The highway begins at an intersection with NY 86 in the village of Lake Placid and ends at a junction with U.S. Route 9 (US 9) north of the hamlet of Underwood in the extreme southwestern corner of the town of Elizabethtown.
The lake is approximately 2,170 acres (8.8 km 2), and has an average depth of about 50 feet (15 m). It is located in the towns of North Elba and St. Armand, both in Essex County. There are three islands on Lake Placid, named Buck, Moose, and Hawk.

The John Brown Farm State Historic Site includes the home and final resting place of abolitionist John Brown (1800–1859). It is located on John Brown Road in the town of North Elba, 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Lake Placid, New York, where John Brown moved in 1849 to teach farming to African Americans.
