ON THIS 6 ACRE SITE we created an estate that includes a main house, carriage house, guest house, pool pavilion, and a series of small ancillary structures. The buildings are linked by a series of axial relationships and balance, creating a sense of spatial enclosure upon arrival in the entry court.
The blend of scale, proportion, and detailing created by combining complementary elements of two historical styles is what makes this residence architecturally distinctive. The Beaux-Arts spirit is most evident in the floor plan, starting with the grand stair rising up from the central hall, serving as a stage from which to see and be seen.

The result is a wood and masonry version of an ancient temple form; the dwelling’s dominant brick façade transitions to clapboard siding at the receding wings. Historical Concepts approached the design of the home from a generational standpoint, considering how it may have evolved over time.
