South Carolina Highway 82 (SC 82) was a state highway that was established in 1928 on a path from SC 20 (now SC 28 just east-southeast of Lethia (and northwest of McCormick) to SC 81 in Starr. It traveled through Mount Carmel, Calhoun Falls, and Lowndesville. In 1949, it was decommissioned; most of its path was redesignated as SC 81.
SC 87 began at an intersection with SC 13 (now SC 93) in Central. It headed nearly due south to Pendleton, where it first intersected US 76/SC 28 (now SC 28 Business) and then following those two highway until it met the western terminus of SC 88. It headed southeast to an intersection with US 178, north of Northlake.
At South Carolina Highway 81 (SC 81), US 29 takes a left turn and follows briefly before taking a right turn at Shockley Ferry Road. Crossing SC 28 Bus. , the road widens to an undivided four-lane highway, continuing until reaching River Street ( US 76 / US 178 ); where US 29 makes another right turn and then soon left again.
