[1] The landscape is one of mountain ridges, glacial lakes, and temperate forest. [2]
Lake Skadar itself is located in the western Balkan region. The lake is located in the border area between Montenegro and Albania, the Montenegrin share of the area of the lake is larger than the Albanian one. The lake's water level also varies seasonally from 4.7 to 9.8 metres (15 to 32 ft) above sea level.
