Kidz Bop is an American children's music group that produces family-friendly covers of pop songs and related media. Kidz Bop releases compilation albums that feature children covering songs that chart high on the Billboard Hot 100 and/or receive heavy airplay from contemporary hit radio stations several months ahead of each album's release.
The SiriusXM-dedicated KIDZ BOP channel has over 34 million subscribers, and the brand has been sitting atop Billboard's Kids Artists chart for over a decade. The KIDZ pose under a SiriusXM banner.
Each half-hour video featured around 10 songs in a music video style production starring a group of children known as the "Kidsongs Kids". They sing and dance their way through well-known children's songs, nursery rhymes and covers of pop hits from the '50s, '60s, '70s and '80s, all tied together by a simple story and theme.
"Dance Monkey" is a song by Australian singer Tones and I, released on 10 May 2019 as the second single (first in the US) from Tones and I's debut EP, The Kids Are Coming. The song was produced and mixed by Konstantin Kersting .
A TikTok search shows more than 10.5 million views on videos dedicated to "purple monkey bubble gum tree" and mentions of the song have increased 191% on Reddit parenting communities in 2023.
Of course, Twitter had a lot to say about the now-viral video and has turned Kidz Bop Karen into one of the year's biggest memes, with one even comparing her to Jack Nicholson from "The Shining."

[ 36 ] [ 37 ] In January 2020, three of the EP's tracks were listed on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2019 : "Dance Monkey" (No. 4), "Never Seen the Rain" (No. 15) and "Johnny Run Away" (No. 26).
