Uhtred of Bamburgh (Uhtred the Bold—sometimes Uchtred; died c. 1016), was ruler of Bamburgh and from 1006 to 1016 the ealdorman of Northumbria. He was the son of Waltheof I , ruler of Bamburgh (Bebbanburg) , whose family the Eadwulfingas had ruled the surrounding region for over a century.
In The Last Kingdom, Uhtred of Bebbanburg was originally someone else, not the main character who was also later known as Uhtred Ragnarsson. The first Uhtred was his older brother, though he died as a child. The original Uhtred was killed by Danes in the very first episode of the show.

Danish raiders kill first his older brother, then his father. Uhtred himself is spared only because the Danish leader, Ragnar the Fearless, is amused when the youngster attacks him.
Uhtred chose Aethelflaed over Ragnar, leading to him losing the name Uhtred Ragnarson leaving only Uhtred the Godless and Uhtred Of Bebbanburg. Word of Aethelflaed in danger was enough to see Uhtred leave the Great Army led by Ragnar, which proved just how much Uhtred loved Aethelflaed.
