Old Harlow is the old town area of Harlow, in Essex, England. It was the historical town centre prior to Harlow being designated a new town in 1947 during the new towns in the United Kingdom movement.
After Harlow was designated as a new town on 25 March 1947, [1] the new Harlow Development Corporation commissioned its own offices, Adams House on the east side of the Market Square. A simple, three storey office block, it was designed by a Manchester -born architect, John Graham, and completed in the early 1950s.
The hospital, which was designed by Easton & Robertson [1] and built on the site of Parndon Hall, the former home of Godfrey Arkwright, opened in phases between 1958 and 1966.

Harlow is a town and local government district located in the west of Essex, England.Founded as a new town, it is situated on the border with Hertfordshire, and occupies a large area of land on the south bank of the upper Stort Valley, which has been made navigable through other towns and features a canal section near its watermill.
The council was initially based at the Town Hall, a tower block on The High in the town centre, which had been completed in 1960 for the old Harlow Urban District Council. [19] In 2004 the council moved to Harlow Civic Centre as part of a wider retail development around the town's Water Gardens.
