The Swan Theatre is a theatre currently run by the Worcester Theatres Charitable Trust in Worcester, England. It is the official residence of the Worcester Repertory Company, Swan Youth Theatre and Young Rep. It stages drama, music, dance and spoken word as well as being hired out to local, regional and national amateur groups.
The Worcester Repertory Company was founded in 1967 after John Hole was appointed the Director of the Swan Theatre. [2] Early productions were limited to an eight week season and included classic works, modern plays and new works; most notably premieres from writer, director and actor, David Wood. [3]
WORCESTER ― Joe Mathews has parked his car along the curb in front of his home since 1998, the year he and his family moved into a house at the bottom of a hill yards away from Bancroft Tower.
Other facilities include a 780 space, multi-story car park, Worcester's bus station and the Huntingdon Hall Theatre. In October 2009 the centre underwent a £5 million refurbishment. [3] In 2017, plans for a new look for Crowngate were published, [4] which were completed in 2019, and gave the existing building a brand new frontage.
It reopened in 1987 after a renovation by the City of Worcester Building Preservation Trust. [4] Since its re-opening, Huntingdon Hall has been used as a theatre and concert venue; today, the hall is one of two theatres run by the Worcester Theatres Charitable Trust, the other being the Swan Theatre. The building can seat 350 people. [5]
