The Swan Theatre is a theatre currently run by the Worcester Theatres Charitable Trust in Worcester, England. It is the official residence of the Worcester Repertory Company, Swan Youth Theatre and Young Rep. It stages drama, music, dance and spoken word as well as being hired out to local, regional and national amateur groups.
The Worcester Repertory Company was founded in 1967 after John Hole was appointed the Director of the Swan Theatre. [2] Early productions were limited to an eight week season and included classic works, modern plays and new works; most notably premieres from writer, director and actor, David Wood. [3]
It reopened in 1987 after a renovation by the City of Worcester Building Preservation Trust. [4] Since its re-opening, Huntingdon Hall has been used as a theatre and concert venue; today, the hall is one of two theatres run by the Worcester Theatres Charitable Trust, the other being the Swan Theatre. The building can seat 350 people. [5]
The Hanover Theatre Repertory's artistic director Livy Scanlon will play the title character in "Judith," who is William Shakespeare's sister, at the BrickBox Theater at the JMAC in Worcester.
