8. Buffalo Springfield. Before he became a successful solo act, Neil Young was a member of the folk-rock group Buffalo Springfield alongside Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills, and Nash.

The band's follow-up single, "Get Me to the World on Time", which put distorted sound effects to a psychedelic-tinged Bo Diddley beat, was released in May 1967. The song managed to chart at number 27 in the US and number 42 in the UK, and was the most electronically experimental composition by the group thus far. [ 14 ]
