MidKent College (formerly Mid-Kent College of Higher and Further Education) is a further education college in Kent, England. It runs courses from two separate campuses in Maidstone and Medway, including a number of higher education courses. There are approximately 8,500 students aged 16 years and upwards enrolled at the college.
The council was created on 1 April 1998 and replaced Rochester-upon-Medway City Council and Gillingham Borough Council. The council has been under Labour majority control since 2023. It meets at the St George's Centre in the Chatham Maritime area of the borough and has its main offices at Gun Wharf in Chatham.
As the 1990s ended and 2000 started Lewis taught courses in mythology for the Kent Children's University (a Kent County Council initiative). The students were aged between 10 and 11 years old. At the same time he was teaching courses in Myth and Culture and also Creative Writing for Adult Education in Maidstone and on the Isle of Sheppey.
The Adult Residential Colleges Association (ARCA) was a group of 27 residential colleges in the United Kingdom. The association was based in Felixstowe , Suffolk , England. ARCA colleges specialized in short-stay residential adult education courses for the general public.
The school continues to coordinate with Medway Council for admissions. [ 5 ] It is part of the Skills for life trust , which contains: Greenacre Academy , Walderslade Girls School , Warren Wood Primary Academy, Chantry Community Academy, Hilltop Primary Academy, Kloisters Kindergarten and Pre-School, PGW Sixth Form and Greenacre Sports Partnership.

It was the three colleges under the direct control of Kent County Council that went on to form KIAD in 1987. [2] The founding director of the Kent Institute was Peter I. Williams, an artist in his own right and former principal of the Lincoln School of Art and Medway College of Design, Rochester, who ran the institute from 1987 to 1996. [3]
Students who successfully complete their education are guaranteed an interview and conditional offer at the University. [3] Other sponsors are Delphi Diesel Systems, BAM, Bouygues Construction, ECITB (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board), Royal School of Military Engineering, Kreston Reeves, Gainwell Futures and Medway Council.
