The 4th Infantry Division is a division of the United States Army based at Fort Carson, Colorado.It is composed of a division headquarters battalion, three brigade combat teams (two Stryker and one armor), a combat aviation brigade, a division sustainment brigade, and a division artillery.
The brigade deployed to Baghdad from 2006–2007. After returning to Fort Hood, the brigade was reflagged as 4th BCT, 1st Cavalry Division. Simultaneously, the 2nd BCT, 2nd Infantry Division at Fort Carson, CO, was reflagged as the 4th BCT, 4th Infantry Division.
The brigade inactivated 16 April 2007, at Fort Hood, Texas because of the realignment of Army units. On 6 May 2015, the unit was redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 4th Infantry Division Artillery at Fort Carson, Colorado, and unfurled its colors on Founders Field 14 May 2015.
Upon redeployment to Fort Hood, TX, the 4th Sustainment Brigade postured to conduct transfer of authority with the Provisional Brigade, which consists of soldiers from the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) in support of Wrangler Shift Operation.
From 1996 to 2009, the battalion was based at Fort Hood, TX and then at Fort Carson, Colorado, until 2014, as part of 4th Infantry Division. It came under the command of Division Artillery and later affiliated to 1st Brigade. Each of the three gun batteries (A, B, C – later only A and B), supported a different battalion in the brigade.

The 4th Infantry Division completed its move from Fort Hood to Fort Carson, Colorado, exchanging positions with several units. The 4th Infantry Division Museum closed at Fort Hood for the last time on 29 May 2009 to complete its move to Colorado although most of the outdoor pieces remained at Fort Hood as part of the new 3CR Museum.
