The act forming the county was approved by the Indiana General Assembly on January 29, 1830, and created Clinton from the eastern parts of neighboring Tippecanoe County. Lieutenant General James F. Olive Township is located southeast of the center of Clinton County. U.S. Route 127 crosses the township, with access from exits 86 and 91. The highway leads north to St. Johns, the Clinton County seat, and south to Lansing, the state capital.
