The difference between the chassis of the 110 vs 111, is the same as the difference of any bolt action rifle vs functionality of an AR. Pistol grip, adjustable LOP butt stock and Cheek Weld, M-lok rail
Very interesting question! With Walmart having 20% off all guns on Black Friday, I am pondering whether a Savage model 10/11 series is a better buy or if you can find the caliber you are looking for if you can get a basic savage axis for $200, put it in a Boyds stock, and aftermarket trigger, you will be in it for less than the 10/11 series guns.
The Axis uses a different mag than the older model 110's. Some newer model 110's use Axis style mags, they are a considerably cheaper design. The entire design of the Axis sear and trigger assembly and safety, etc. are completely diferent than the model 110's In short, the Axis is a totally different design.
I own a 30-06 savage 116, and was wondering if there were any significant differences between it and a 110 model other than the 116 is a top load? 07-18-2015, 11:10 PM #2 olddav
The short-action Model 110 became the Model 10, while the long-action model remained the Model 110. The Model 110 is the basis for the entire line of Savage centerfire bolt-action rifles, including the Models 11/111, 12, 14/114, 16/116, and Model 210 bolt-action shotgun as well as the Stevens Model 200.
The trigger system is similar to late Stevens 200s and some pre-Accutrigger 10/110 rifles. Axis magazines are also the same as 10/110 rifles that use plastic floorplates. While one-piece scope mounts for the Axis and 110 will not interchange, any two-piece scope mount for round back 10/100 rifles will work with the Axis.
i thought i saw someone's post explaining the differences in savage model's actions. but now i can't find ...
It fires one louder. Really can't go wrong with a savage. I was self taught on shooting with a 110 savage in .30-06. An expensive, painful, and flich wise fustrating way to learn. But, my shoulder and wallet paid for it. Got it shooting real well. I was consistently shooting soup cans at 100 to 200 yards after a few hundred rounds of getting it ...
It has a matte black finish with Savage standard SA and 22" sporter barrel, non-Accutrigger, side bolt release and older style rectangle safety. It has a Savage plastic (tupperware) stock with DBM cut-out a plastic centerfeed magazine assembly and cap used in the Axis and Savage 11 Light Weight Hunter.
Ok, so I just acquired a Savage 12 .308 BVSS in a Choate Tactical stock in trade. Now, I own a 110, 10, and 111 Savage and I understand the 2 digit is sa, 3 digit la etc... but what I don't know, and can't really figure out is what is the differences between a 10, 12, 16 etc?
