The Lowcountry climate, warm with winter chills, will encourage self-fertile varieties such as ‘Frantoio’ and ‘Arbequina’ to produce a drupe, aka an olive, perfectly worthy of a place on your table. When planted in the landscape, the trees’ gorgeous silver-green foliage can reach 15 to 40 feet tall upon a uniquely gnarled trunk.
As the popularity of olive trees in the home landscape rose, smaller, fruitless varieties were developed. Since 1978, "Majestic Beauty" has been a favorite non-fruiting olive, suitable for hot, dry regions. Many of the local nursuries sell the non cold-hardy Mexican Fan Palms and other bad choices. Part of it is they can't tell the difference between Mexican fan palms and the more hardy ...
These bad boys are expensive and cheapest is at $199 a pop, I need to cover about 60' so will get pricey. I have heard and read articles online that the roots are invasive. I brought up my concerns that my pool edge is about 10 feet away and these hedges/trees are being planted next to travertine decking.

Some people enjoy being on the bleeding edge of development where the paint hasn't even finished drying yet, some prefer more established communities with mature trees and residents who have lived there for years. The unfortunate thing with working at the airport is there really is no ideal place to live around there.
