Visakhapatnam (/ v ɪ ˌ s ɑː k ə ˈ p ʌ t n ə m /; formerly known as Vizagapatam, [16] and also referred to as Vizag, Visakha, and Waltair) [1] [17] [18] is the largest and most populous metropolitan city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. [19] It is between the Eastern Ghats and the coast of the Bay of Bengal.
Under the jurisdiction of VMRDA, the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region (VMR), comprises, Visakhapatnam city and the districts Anakapalli, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam.
