According to Chuck Hawkes (A good source): From a carbine length rifle barrel .30 Carbine factory loads drive 110 grain RN bullets at a muzzle velocity of 1,990 fps. Muzzle energy is 977 ft. lbs. At 100 yards the little bullet is traveling at 1,567 fps and still has 600 ft. lbs. of energy.

It takes Glock magazines and has a mass-delayed-blowback system. These are made in the US of A and have a reputation for relaiiltity. (They're running about $500.00 for the entire carbine). A nice set of sights and a 33-round Glock magazine should set you up for both home and camp carbine use.
I read that Federal was loading a carbine specific round with slower burning powder to take advantage of the longer barrel and increase velocity. Federal Syntech PCC: New 9mm Load Designed Specifically for Carbines. My Ruger PC9 LOVES those the best! LGS has that ammo for $189 a case of 500.
