After witnessing a murder, 13-year-old Rachel "Ray" Gardner is sent to a hospital for counselling only to wake up in an unfamiliar building with no memory of how she got there. There, the only way out is through an elevator, where a machine-generated voice over an intercom decrees her as a "sacrifice" for the inhabitants of the upper floors.
