Carnival Jubilee is a cruise ship built for Carnival Cruise Line. It is the third ship of the line's Excel class , although it was the first built by Meyer Werft at Papenburg , Germany. [ 2 ] It was delivered to Carnival on 4 December 2023, [ 6 ] and entered service on 23 December 2023 out of the Port of Galveston in the United States.

Grand Princess eclipsed Carnival Destiny in 1998. The Voyager-class from Royal Caribbean Group's Royal Caribbean International (RCI) debuted in 1998 and at over 137,000 GT, were almost 30,000 GT larger than the next-largest cruise ships, and were some of the first designed to offer amenities such as an ice rink and climbing wall. In June 2015, four ships were ordered for delivery between 2019 and 2020. [7] [8] In September 2016, three more ships were ordered for Carnival Cruise Line and P&O Cruises for delivery in 2020 and 2022. [9] In February 2024, Carnival Cruise Line placed an order for another Excellence class ship for delivery in 2027.
According to Cruise Market Watch, in 2024, Carnival and its sub-brands captured 37.3% of the industry's revenue, while Royal Caribbean Group had 23.9% and Norwegian 14.1%.
The first ship in the class, the 46,052 gross-ton vessel Holiday, was completed in 1985. A second and slightly larger sister ship, Jubilee, was built in 1986 at 47,262 gross tons. The third and final ship, Celebration, was identical to Jubilee and completed in 1987. All were the biggest ships for Carnival until the Fantasy class was built.
