The Fountain Valley School of Colorado is a private, co-educational independent college preparatory school for students in 9th through 12th grades. The school's primary campus is located on 1,100 acres (445 ha) of rolling prairie at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, Colorado .

Mesa Ridge High School is a school in Widefield School District 3, a school district in El Paso County, Colorado. The school is zoned to receive students from Fountain, and the Colorado Springs suburbs of Security and Widefield. Mesa Ridge opened in 1997. The first graduating class commenced in 2000.

The first school in Colorado Springs was organized by Mary Mellen "Queen" Palmer, wife of city founder William Jackson Palmer, in late 1871. Classes were first held in a home on the northeast corner of Cascade Avenue and Bijou Street, rented by Mrs. Palmer for the school. [2] School District 11 was established in August 1872.
In 2018 some families dissatisfied with the schools of Dulce Independent Schools in Dulce, New Mexico enrolled their children in Archuleta school district schools. There were 99 such students, with 32, 36, and 31 in elementary, middle, and high school levels, respectively. Reed stated, "people have been doing that for years." [3]
Palmer High School is located at 301 North Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs. The present building was built by the Works Progress Administration under Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1940. Originally named Colorado Springs High School, Palmer High School was renamed in 1959 after the city's founder, General William Jackson Palmer.
