Victoria is located in eastern Ellis County, just south of I-70. From the interstate, the country looks flat, but south of town the Smoky Hill River has carved a huge valley. It was settled by immigrants from two cultures and has a rich past.
History. The current town of Victoria was originally established as two distinct communities. The first was Victoria, named after Queen Victoria, founded by 38 Scottish immigrants under the leadership of George Grant. The area was surveyed and platted in 1873.
The following Departments are staffed by employees/volunteers of the City of Victoria. City Hall Regular meetings of the governing body take place on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 pm.
The purpose of the Victoria Recreation Commission is to seek the development of a broad variety of recreation programs to meet the total needs and demands of the residents of the community. Programs are offered to youth, boy and girls through adults.

The Victoria Health & Public Safety Center houses multiple services for the Victoria community. In 1998, this building was built to assist the citizens of Victoria and the surrounding area in accessing convenient health care for non-urgent needs.
City Council Meeting Minutes. The City Council meets in regular session on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 pm in Council Chambers of City Hall. Special sessions may be called at the discretion of the council. The City of Victoria only posts Council Minutes after they are approved by the City Council.
