A Certain Scientific Railgun (とある科学の 超電磁砲 （ レールガン ）, Toaru Kagaku no Rērugan) is an anime series based on the manga of the same name, which in itself is a spin-off of Kazuma Kamachi's light novel, manga and anime series A Certain Magical Index.

Mikoto Misaka (Japanese: 御坂 美琴, Hepburn: Misaka Mikoto) is a fictional character created by Kazuma Kamachi and first illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura.She is a major character in the A Certain Magical Index light novel series and the main protagonist of its manga spin-off series A Certain Scientific Railgun.
Railgun was adapted as a 24-episode anime television series by J.C.Staff, which aired in Japan between October 2009 and March 2010, followed by an original video animation on October 29, 2010. A second season, A Certain Scientific Railgun S, began airing in April 2013. A third season, A Certain Scientific Railgun T, premiered in January 2020.
