The Khivan campaign of 1839–1840 was a failed Russian attempt to conquer the Khanate of Khiva. Vasily Perovsky set out from Orenburg with 5,000 men, met an unusually cold winter, lost most of his camels, and was forced to turn back after going halfway. Russians attacked Khiva four times. Around 1602, some free Cossacks made three raids on Khiva.

Some sources say that this historical object is the smallest madrasah in Khiva. The madrasah is so small and shows traditional building rules are not followed at all in the construction of it. Matrasulboy Mirzaboshi madrasah is located on the north side of Shergazikhan madrasah, on the road, and has one-story wooden doors with elegant carvings. [3]
The madrasah is one-story, rectangular in shape (36.45 × 31.8 m). It originally consisted of classrooms, a winter mosque and a courtyard, surrounded by cells. Their total number is 19 (the remaining 2 rooms are located on the second floor). The rooms are located around the courtyard (21 × 17 m).
