The Offspring is an American rock band from Garden Grove, California, formed in 1984. [2] Originally formed under the name Manic Subsidal , the band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Bryan "Dexter" Holland , lead guitarist Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman , bassist Todd Morse , multi-instrumentalist Jonah Nimoy and drummer Brandon Pertzborn .
The band's eleventh studio album, Supercharged was released on October 11, 2024. The drum tracks were handled by both Freese and Pertzborn, while Holland and new bassist Todd Morse took bass duties. As of 2015, The Offspring has sold over 40 million albums worldwide. [4]
The band changed its name to "the Offspring" in 1986. Lilja left the Offspring in 1987 to pursue a medical career in oncology and was replaced by Ron Welty, who was 16 years old at the time. [2] [3] The bands first touring member was Chris "X-13" Higgins, who at first provided backing vocals and later played percussion and rhythm guitar.

After drummer Ron Welty joined the band in 1987 to replace James Lilja, the band started recording their debut album in 1989. [ 5 ] After recording a demo in 1988, [ 6 ] the Offspring signed a deal with a small-time label, Nemesis Records , for whom they recorded their first full-length album, The Offspring , in March 1989. [ 6 ]
He left the group in 2008 shortly before breaking up. The band reunited in 2015. [5] In 2009, Morse became rhythm guitarist for the Offspring on tours. In 2012, Morse did backing vocals for the Offspring's album Days Go By. In 2019, Morse replaced Offspring bassist and founding member Greg K. and became an official member of the band. [6]
Lilja's latest band, Bunko was formed in 2016. [17] Their debut EP, Thought Patrol was released on August 25, 2019. [ 18 ] On August 5, 2023, Lilja joined the Offspring on stage for the first time since 1987 to perform the song "Beheaded" (which he had co-written with lead singer Dexter Holland ).
