Ichigo Kurosaki (黒崎 一護, Kurosaki Ichigo) is a fictional character in the Bleach manga series and its adaptations created by author Tite Kubo.He is the main protagonist of the series, who receives Soul Reaper powers after meeting Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper assigned to patrol around the fictional city of Karakura Town.

Byakuya uses his bankai and overwhelms Ichigo with millions of tiny blades. In response, Ichigo uses his own bankai, which makes him incredibly fast. Ichigo evades Byakuya's bankai and stabs him with his sword. Meanwhile, Tōshirō Hitsugaya and Rangiku Matsumoto head to the Central 46 Chambers, the highest authority in the Soul Society.
The series adapts Kubo's manga with the main story arcs and introduces anime exclusive ones. In Karakura Town, high school student Ichigo Kurosaki becomes a substitute Soul Reaper (死神, Shinigami, literally, "Death God"), when Rukia Kuchiki risks her life to protect him from a Hollow who attacks Ichigo's twin younger sisters.
Ichigo visits the shop, where Ikumi Unagiya comforts him, before Isshin Kurosaki arrives in his Soul Reaper attire to take Ichigo away, though Ichigo unknowingly leaves his badge behind. Isshin tells Ichigo about the history of their family, while to Ichigo that his mother was a Quincy.
The plot follows the Soul Reaper Ichigo Kurosaki who is in charge of slaying Hollows, evil spirits that attack people. He also encounters former Soul Reaper Sosuke Aizen , who created an army of powerful Hollows called Arrancars to destroy the Soul Reapers' organization, Soul Society.
