Goku has entered the battlefield stronger than ever and prepares to fight Frieza alone. It seems that Goku might become a Super Saiyan, as he easily deflects Frieza's energy attacks. As Vegeta taunts Frieza, claiming that Goku is the "real Super Saiyan", the tyrant easily finishes him with an energy beam to the heart and a cruel bout of laughter.
Goku tries to save them and is caught off guard when Frieza lands several blows on him. Eventually lashing out at Goku, Vegeta intervenes out of impatience for the fighters' constant rambling and holding back their full power. Goku takes Vegeta's request into account and convinces Frieza to power up to his maximum.
Goku saves Vegeta from being absorbed. As Vegeta recovers, Goku continues to fight the thought form of Super Buu. Goku is rapidly losing energy, and just as Super Buu is about to defeat Goku, Vegeta cuts down the pod containing the fat Majin Buu. This causes Super Buu to go mad, as without the fat Majin Buu absorbed, Super Buu cannot exist.
Shortly after this, Ginyu and Jeice arrive to battle Goku. Goku tells Krillin and Gohan to leave. Vegeta tricks Goku and flies away, leaving Goku to fight alone. Goku and Captain Ginyu fight, and after a while Ginyu asks Goku to release his true power. Goku abides and begins to power up via the Kaio-ken.
Goku is able to easily beat Nappa, thanks to King Kai's training. With a measured power level in the thousands, he is vastly superior to the man who so easily defeated his friends. Goku avenges all of his friends. Having seen enough of the fight, Vegeta orders Nappa to stop and let him fight Goku.
Goku easily defeats Nappa who is then killed by Vegeta, for the shame of being defeated by a low class Saiyan such as Goku.
