The Smithton Revival (also known as the Smithton Outpouring or the Cornfield Revival) was a Pentecostal Christian [1] revival meeting that occurred in the small town (population 532 at the time) of Smithton, Missouri, from March 24, 1996 to April 2000. [2]
Heartland Christian Academy was founded in 1995 [1] by Charles Sharpe, a millionaire businessman who worked with Ozark National Life Insurance Co. [2] Sharpe said he had a calling from God to found Heartland Christian as a nondenominational Christian school for children with a troubled past who had been through broken homes, foster care, and the juvenile court system. This led to a name change for the original downtown facility to Heartland West. [3] [4] [7] [8] Heartland West experienced a decline in usage, was ultimately abandoned by Heartland Health, and was demolished in 2006. [4] [9] In May 2012, the hospital joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network, expanding its healthcare partnerships. [10]
A Kansas City, Missouri-based company called Topeka 77, LLC, has purchased the Topeka properties that formerly were the site of Heartland Motorsports Park.
