Centennial Hills is a neighborhood in northwest Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.It is bordered by the Snow Mountain Paiute Reservation and Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument to the north, Lower Kyle Canyon and the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area to the west, Summerlin to the south, and North Las Vegas to the east.

Mount Charleston is a year-round getaway for Las Vegas's residents and visitors, with a number of hiking trails, a modest ski area, a hotel and a small restaurant. The mountain, which is snow-capped more than half the year, can be seen from parts of the Las Vegas Strip when looking toward the west.
Tule Springs was first designated as a park when it was acquired by the city of Las Vegas in 1964. It was renamed Floyd Lamb State Park in 1977 when the state assumed control. [ 1 ] The park was named after Nevada state senator Floyd Lamb , who was later convicted of taking a $23,000 bribe from an undercover FBI agent in 1983.

Along the way, the group stopped in the what would become Las Vegas and noted the natural water sources, now referred to as the Las Vegas Springs, which supported extensive vegetation such as grasses and mesquite
The first reported non-Native American visitor to the Las Vegas Valley was the Mexican scout Rafael Rivera in 1829.[10] [11] [12] Las Vegas was named by Mexicans in the Antonio Armijo party, [4] including Rivera, who used the water in the area while heading north and west along the Old Spanish Trail from Texas.
It is a major route from Los Angeles and the Inland Empire to Las Vegas. The freeway runs above and parallel to an original stretch of U.S. Route 66 and U.S. Route 395. This stretch, now known as Cajon Boulevard, is a short, well-preserved fragment dating to a rerouting and widening of the highway in the early 1950s.
