Kunti (Sanskrit: कुन्ती, [kun̪t̪iː], IAST: Kuntī), born Pritha (Sanskrit: पृथा, , IAST: Pṛthā), was the queen of Kuru in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. Kunti was married to Pandu and is the mother of Karna, Yudhishthira, Bhima, and Arjuna. She is depicted to possess beauty, intelligence and shrewdness.
Shafaq Naaz (born 7 February 1993) is an Indian television actress and trained Kathak dancer, [citation needed] best known for her roles as Kunti in Mahabharat (2013) which aired on Star Plus and Mayuri in Chidiya Ghar (2014). She is the sister of actors Falaq Naaz and Sheezan Khan. [1]
The Kunti kingdom was the kingdom of Kunti-Bhoja, one of the prominent kings among the Bhoja-Yadavas. Kunti, the mother of Pandavas and the first wife of Kuru king Pandu, was the adopted daughter of Kuntibhoja. Her given name was Pritha and she was a sister of Vasudeva, the father of Vasudeva Krishna.
The first three of five Pandavas were the sons of Kunti and Pandu while the younger two were born to Madri after Pandu's request. [11] Yaudheya was the son of Yudhishthira and Devika. Ghatotkacha was the son of Bhima and Hidimbi; Abhimanyu was the son of Arjuna and Subhadra. Babruvahana was the son of Arjuna and Chitrāngadā.
In Mahabharata, Kunti-Bhoja (or Kuntibhoja) was the cousin of Shurasena and adoptive father of Kunti. He was the ruler of the Kunti Kingdom. Kunti was a daughter of King Shurasena but was later given to Kuntibhoja since he was devoid of children. [52] Kuntibhoja raised her as his own daughter and loved her. [53]
