Recreational Road 255 Spur (RE 255 Spur) was a short spur connection of FM 255 and later RE 255 that connected the small Beans community in Jasper County to RE 255. The spur was 0.700 miles (1.127 km) long. RE 255 Spur began at an intersection with RE 255 near Beans Community, inside the southern edge of Angelina National Forest.
RE 255 is the only Recreational Road to have had a spur route. The 0.7-mile-long (1,100 m) route was originally designated on February 15, 1970, as FM 255 Spur; it connected FM 255 to the community of Beans through a short, heavily wooded area. The spur was redesignated as RP 255 on March 15, 1974, and was canceled on December 18, 1979. [3] [10]

The route was opened as the Camino Colombia Toll Road in October 2000, at a cost of approximately $90 million. SH 255 inherited its number from FM 255, which was designated on the route between the border crossing and FM 1472 on January 30, 1989. [10] The SH 255 designation was extended over this segment on June 30, 2005. [1]
On December 18, 1959, the section from FM 2029 to FM 807 (along with FM 2029 itself) became part of FM 807, and the section east of FM 807 became a spur connection of FM 807. On May 6, 1964, the road was extended east over the spur connection and further east 4.3 miles (6.9 km) to the Dallam–Sherman county line.
The first route numbered FM 2618 was designated on November 24, 1959, from FM 111 (now FM 60) at Deanville south 3.1 miles (5.0 km) to a road intersection; 0.2 miles (0.32 km) were a replacement of FM Spur 111. On September 27, 1960, the road was extended south 2.6 miles (4.2 km) to a county road.
