Opened in May 2001 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Dolly's Splash Country is an addition to the Dollywood Company's theme park. The park is built into the natural terrain of a 25-acre mountainous area adjacent to the main Dollywood theme park. The park was a $20 million investment ($34.4 million in 2023 dollars [3]) by the Dollywood Company.
It is located in the Knoxville metropolitan area in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, near the gateway to The Great Smoky Mountains. Hosting nearly 3 million guests in a typical season from mid-March to the Christmas holidays, Dollywood is the biggest ticketed tourist attraction in Tennessee. Development of the site included a hotel and outdoor waterpark. The second area opened in December 2008 and offers a condominium resort and indoor waterpark (titled the 'Wild WaterDome', which is one of the largest indoor waterparks in Tennessee [1]). The third area added was the 'Lake Wilderness' outdoor waterpark and became available in May 2009.
