The Sacred Heart Cathedral [1] (Portuguese: Catedral Sagrado Coração de Jesus e Cristo Rei) or Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Christ the King, also Petrolina Cathedral, [2] is a religious building affiliated with the Catholic Church located in the center of the city of Petrolina, [3] in the state of Pernambuco in the northeastern region of the South American country of Brazil.
The cathedral also houses a parish whose head is the Sacred Heart of Jesus and whose patron saint is St. Anthony and St. Sebastian. The parish has three chapels dependent on it: the Chapel of St. Peter and the Chapel of St. Paul, in the Jockey Park, and the Chapel of the House of St. Joseph.

It was completed in 1972 and is the tallest church building in the Americas and the 18th tallest in the world. [1]
