Indian 2 is the soundtrack album composed by Anirudh Ravichander for the Indian Tamil-language film of the same name, directed by S. Shankar, starring Kamal Haasan. The film is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies. Anirudh was chosen to compose the songs, during the pre-production works of the film in November 2017.
In 1946, Naidu gave TMS an opportunity to sing five songs in the style of M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar for a film of P. V. Narasimha Bharathi: Krishna Vijayam. Though the songs were noted since 1946, the film was released in 1950. One of his songs in that movie, "Raathey Ennai Vittu Pogathedi," became a hit and he was paid Rs 625.
A critic from The Times of India gave the film 2/5 and criticised the subplot and numerous flashbacks. [4] A critic from News18 wrote that "The highlight is Jai Shankar's sincere attempt to stay away from the clich's. The film begins on a sweet note and proceeds the same way all through". [5]
Indian 2 grossed ₹ 50 crore (US$5.8 million) on its opening day, which was the highest first day gross for a Tamil film in 2024, with over ₹ 25 crore (US$2.9 million) from India. [58] The film became the second highest opening day gross for both Haasan and Shankar, behind Vikram (2022) and 2.0 (2018). [ 59 ]
