Cedar River National Grassland is a National Grassland located in Sioux County and Grant County in southern North Dakota, United States. It has a land area of 6,717 acres (2,718 ha). [2] The portion in Sioux County lies within the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. Within the grassland are topographic features such as level plains and rolling hills.
Currently, the best source for nationwide LiDAR availability from public sources is the United States Interagency Elevation Inventory (USIEI). [1] The USIEI is a collaborative effort of NOAA and the U.S. Geological Survey, with contributions from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the National Park Service.
The District currently manages 201 waterfowl production areas that total 45,683 acres (184.87 km 2), 3 national wildlife refuges that are easement refuges (Bone Hill NWR, Dakota Lake NWR, Maple River NWR), and 120,000 acres (490 km 2) of wetland and grassland easements. The District's headquarters is in Kulm, North Dakota.
All of these ranger districts were formerly part of the Custer National Forest based in Billings, Montana. The Chief of the Forest Service created the DPG as a separate unit to help focus and better manage the issues and resources of the National Grasslands. The four National Grasslands now have a total area of 1,265,217 acres (512,015 ha). [1]

Within the District, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service manages 27,332 acres (110.6 km 2) of waterfowl production areas (WPA), 128,117 acres (518.47 km 2) of wetland easements, 15,231 acres (61.64 km 2) of grassland easements, 6,500 acres (26 km 2) of Farmers Home Administration conservation easements, and 7,910 acres (32 km 2) of easement refuges.
