Here are some of the most memorable reactions to Dusty Rhodes' passing
Rhodes and Koloff participated in the 1987 Jim Crockett, Sr. Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament. They received a bye into the second round before defeating the teams of Bill Dundee and The Barbarian, Rick Rude and Manny Fernandez, and The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane) to advance to the finals.
Manny Fernandez would also leave JCP for the AWA. Jim Crockett completed his purchase of Bill Watts ' UWF in April, 1987, but it would take a few months for the UWF wrestlers to make their way to JCP television, though some of them went to WWF, including Ted DiBiase and (earlier) Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
Three months later, on March 18, 1985, Koloff and Ivan defeated Dusty Rhodes and Manny Fernandez to win the NWA World tag team title. Ivan invoked the Freebird rule which dictated that any two of the three could defend the titles. Ivan and Krusher lost the titles to The Rock 'n' Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson) on July 9.
