Truman Osborn Angell (/ ˈ eɪ n dʒ əl / "angel"; June 5, 1810 – October 16, 1887) was an American architect who served many years as the official architect of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).
They incorporate traditional architecture with hints of various other styles depending on location. Elsewhere in the world, the LDS Church has created standardized floorplans that better fit in with the culture and geography of individual countries and regions. In tropical locations, the roofs tend to be thicker and the meetinghouses smaller.
An east-facing golden statue of angel Moroni was placed on top of the spire. When discussing the problems involved with converting the old, deteriorated building into an acceptable modern temple, LDS Church president Gordon B. Hinckley remarked that the church would never attempt that again.
Architect Truman O. Angell’s design had two towers and was based on the same pattern as the Salt Lake Temple, with a large assembly hall and other similar rooms. The building’s architectural form is a combination of Gothic Revival and French Renaissance styles, along with traditional Latter-day Saint temple design.
It became the fourth Latter-day Saint temple in the state when it was dedicated in August 2008 and the second dedicated in Idaho that year. As pf 2009, at an approximate height of 159 feet (48 m), [2] it was the tallest building in Twin Falls. [3] The temple has a single attached end spire with a statue of the angel Moronii. [4]
