Born in Detroit, Michigan, she immigrated to British Columbia, and joined Victoria's CHEK-TV as a co-host and producer in 1975. She moved to Vancouver's CKNW AM 980 the next year and became that station's first female reporter.
In 2010 Friesen joined Global News as their Global National anchor, succeeding Kevin Newman. [1] Friesen was the third full-time female news anchor to lead a nightly newscast in Canada, after Sophie Thibault in 2002 and Céline Galipeau in 2009, and the first in English Canada. [5] [6] In 2011 she won the Gemini Award for best news anchor. [7]

[ citation needed ] She was named "Woman of the Year" at the Consumer's Choice Awards in 2003 [ citation needed ] and has appeared on the cover of TV Week Magazine seven times.
In September 2001, she began hosting News Hour Final, weeknights on Global BC. Krop was the host of Unfiltered on BC1 and anchored the Early News following Deborra Hope 's retirement. [ 4 ] Besides television, Krop works in radio as a relief talk show host on CKNW AM-980 .
