Bathiya & Santhush (Sinhala: භාතිය හා සන්තුෂ්), also known as BnS, are a Sri Lankan pop duo consisting of Bathiya Jayakody (born on December 22, 1976) and Santhush Weeraman (born on September 5, 1977), who met while at the "Mary Anne David School of Vocal Music and" in Colombo (training mainly under the categories of classical and show tunes). First played in the early 1970s on Radio Ceylon, the oldest radio station in South Asia, the song was recorded both in English (by Mendis and Sandra Edema) and Sinhala (by Neville Fernando of Los Caballeros; lyrics translated to Sinhala by Karunaratne Abeysekera), with both versions released on the Lotus label and distributed by Lotus Entertainment.

The Gypsies are a Sri Lankan baila band that performs Sinhala and English songs. [1] The band was founded in the early 1970s and has since garnered a huge fan base across Sri Lanka and is one of Sri Lanka's most famous bands. In 1956, she contested for ‘Padya Gayana’ competition held at Borella YMBA, in which she won a gold medal. After winning the poetry contest, Radio Ceylon W. D. Amaradeva invited Nanda to take part in a song, she sang the song Budu Sadu written by Asoka Colombage and set to music by D. D. Danny on Karunaratne Abeysekera's popular program known as Lama Mandapaya on Radio. [6]
